It has been mentioned several times that the US team assembled to contest the upcoming FIP 14 Goal World Polo Championship and known as Team USPA, has a strong California representation. Very true - but with Californian Joel Baker in charge as the head coach, the team consisting of Jesse Bray 4, Jared Sheldon 3, Will Tankard 3, Patrick Uretz 3, Felipe Viana 3, and Mason Wroe 4, has not only a California involvement but a very strong influence from Southern California and more specifically, right here at the Eldorado Polo Club and its junior polo program. Both Bray and Uretz started their polo careers as members of Eldorado junior polo and Sheldon, while not starting as a member at this Southern California venue, did play a great deal of his early polo here. After graduating from the junior ranks, all three have gone on to play on a regular basis at Eldorado as professional practitioners and each one has played winning polo on a consistent basis.Of course, the names Bray and Uretz are 'household' at Eldorado. Bray's father Graham, currently the Polo Manager, has played in the desert for many, many years, and the Uretz family has been a monumental part of the club spanning four decades. It is also worth noting that Sheldon's father, Billy Sheldon, played on the US Team in Santa Barbara during the 1998 FIP World Championship.Tony Gregg
