The Eldorado Polo Club was proud to host a National Youth Tournament Series (NYTS) Qualifier on the weekend of March 13 & 14 and, as in past NYTS tournaments, the play was was intense and fast.
With many previous and still eligible NYTS players unable to play in the 2021 qualifier due to current commitments in Eldorado’s USPA Pacific Coast Governor’s Cup and the USPA Amateur Cup, this years play featured many new faces stepping into their first NYTS experience.
In Saturday’s qualifiers, Bush League defeated Yari Daimyo and Eldorado bested Seattle Polo, setting up Sunday’s championship game.
In a contest that Eldorado led early, the score was tied at two at halftime and Bush League took a one goal lead at 4 – 3 into the final chukker ultimately prevailing by a final count of 7 – 3.
Sunday’s consolation game saw Seattle Polo defeat Yari Daimyo.
Pacific Coast Circuit Governor Danny Walker was on hand to present the awards.
As is NYTS custom, seven all-stars were chosen in alphabetical order; Mike Estrada, Rose Gonzalez, Riley Jordan, Quinn Kyle, Taylor Olcott, Elise Pardue, Colby Smith.
Rubio, owned and played by Taylor Olcott in the fourth chukker, was chosen as the Best Playing Pony.
